About the School

The School of Landscape Architecture at Beijing Forestry University (BFU) is the birthplace of modern landscape education in China, which can be traced back to 1951 when the "Gardening Group" was jointly founded by the Department of Horticulture of Beijing Agricultural University and the Department of Construction of Tsinghua University, and in 1956 when the national faculties were adjusted to the Beijing Forestry College (the predecessor of Beijing Forestry University). After the restructuring of the national faculties to Beijing Forestry College (the former Beijing Forestry University) in 1956, it went through the establishment of the Department of Urban and Residential Greening and the Department of Landscape Architecture, and at the end of 1992, the first School of Landscape Architecture was set up in China.
