On April 18, 2018, the third academic seminar of the Beijing Laboratory of Urban and Rural Eco-environment was successfully held at the Xijiao Hotel Conference Center in Beijing. Prof. Li Xiong, Vice President of Beijing Forestry University, Wan Guoliang, Director of the Laboratory and Equipment Management Department, Wang Liping, Director of Science and Technology Department, Zhang Jing, Party Secretary of the School of Landscape Architecture, Professor Wang Xiangrong, Dean of the School of Landscape Architecture, and Professor Liu Zhicheng, Vice President of Research Institute of the School of Landscape Architecture，Professor Cheng Tangren, Executive Director of Flower Engineering Technology Research Center, and other industry experts and laboratory researchers attended the conference ,whose members added to more than 140 .

At the beginning of the meeting, Vice President Li Xiong expressed his warm welcome to the leaders of the school's functional departments, experts, and colleagues, and fully affirmed the ecological benefits, economic benefits, and social influence of the laboratory scientific research achievements. He pointed out that the school will continue to pay attention to and support the operation and management of Beijing laboratories, and strive to build the laboratory into a long-lasting, high-display scientific research and innovation platform, and a long-term communication and exchange links and bridges between the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Beijing Forestry University.

Afterwards, 14 research teams of the laboratory centered on four research directions,“R&D of urban and rural eco-environmental building technologies, safety and construction of urban and rural green space eco-networks, research on key technologies for the selection and breeding of ecological functional plant materials, and efficient propagation and cultivation of functional plants”. A detailed report was made and the outstanding issues of the ecological environment in Beijing and the core solutions and technologies were discussed. The Committee of Experts highly praised the laboratory's deep focus on the major hot issues of the ecological environment in Beijing and the practice of the laboratory's “government, production, learning, research, and use” collaborative innovation mechanism.At the same time, it put forward constructive suggestions on the construction and development of laboratories,which are defining and establishing long-term assessment and assessment mechanisms;considering medium- and long-term strategic planning, focusing on direction, and further developing major strategies and needs for high capital display in the capital; strengthening information sharing and extensive collaboration among internal teams to form a unique platform Characteristic theoretical system and research system; increasing publicity, promotion and application to speed up the landing of results.

Finally, Prof. Zhang Qixiang, the laboratory director, summarized the work of the laboratory in 2017 and affirmed the outstanding results obtained by the laboratory, and put forward specific requirements for the acceptance and assessment of the laboratory,which included continuing to implement the relevant research funds use rules and regulations of the national, Beijing and Beijing Forestry University to standardize the use of scientific research funds; on the basis of ensuring the completion of the laboratory task assessment indicators, expanding the study from the depth and breadth and striving to superbly complete the task of laboratory assessment and acceptance to make the laboratory a long-term, sustainable collaborative innovation platform.

Urban and Rural Eco-environment Beijing Laboratory, relying on the country's number one landscape architecture subject and forestry discipline superiority resources, organizing the Beijing Forestry University’s School of Landscape Architecture, Laboratory and Equipment Management, National Flower Engineering Technology Research Center and other parties to integrate resources was certified in September 2014,by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and became the 8th Beijing laboratory approved by the Beijing Education Commission during the 12th Five-Year Plan period. Since the establishment of the laboratory, a large number of scientific research achievements have been made, which have made outstanding contributions to the improvement of human settlements in Beijing, as well as played positive function to theoretical research on improving the ecological environment of human settlements in core areas of urban and rural areas, research on the development of plant materials and core technologies, and improvement of human settlements in Beijing. The ecological environment of human settlements in the core areas of urban and rural areas has played an active role.
