On April 2, 2018, the construction seminar of the Beautiful Chinese Habitat Ecological and Environmental Research Institute of Beijing Forestry University was held at C1429 of the Center for Research.Prof. Li Xiong, vice president of Beijing Forestry University; Mr. Wang Liping, director of Science and Technology Department; Prof. Chen Jiancheng, dean of College of Economics and Management; Prof. Sun Dezhi, dean of College of Environmental Science and Engineering; Prof. Wang Qiang, vice dean of College of Environmental Science and Engineering; Prof. Lei Guangchun, dean of College of Nature Reserve; Prof. Xu Jiliang, vice dean of College of Nature Reserve; Prof. Zhang Yuqing, vice dean of College of Soil and Water Conservation; Mr. Zhang Jing, Party Secretary of the College of Landscape Architecture ; Prof. Wang Xiangrong, dean of the College of Landscape Architecture; Prof. Liu Yao, vice dean of the Party Committee, of the College of Landscape Architecture; and Prof. Zheng XI, vice dean of College of Landscape Architecture attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Prof. Li Xiong, vice president of Beijing Forestry University, emphasized that the construction of the Beautiful China Habitat Ecological and Environmental Research Institute was one of the key tasks of the school in 2018. He hoped that the work would be done and done well with the joint efforts of everyone. It is pointed out that the development of the institute should be closely integrated with double-class construction, relying on the construction of world-class disciplines in landscape architecture, collaborating with a number of related disciplines to carry out cross-innovation studies. Our school would support the development of multi-disciplines, and support the development of large-scale platforms for disciplines, and great achievements would be made passing large projects. In the next stage of development, President Li hoped to straighten out the institutional mechanisms of the Institute and achieve sustainable development, with a focus on the effectiveness of the Institute in terms of ecological restoration, ecological networks, ecological civilization, and urban forestry.
Wang Liping, director of the Science and Technology Department of Beijing Forestry University, put forward the following two suggestions on the current development stage of the institute: First, the institute should improve the working mechanism and consideration system as soon as possible, strictly control the evaluation of the members' indicators, and determine the division of work and work content; Second, the institute should be linked to major decisions and related policies of the country’s beautiful Chinese ecological environment and defines development goals.
Professor Wang Xiangrong, dean of the institute and the College of Landscape Architecture, reported on the construction of the institute, adjusted it in accordance with the national spirit of the 19th National Congress of the People's Republic of China and national institutions, and conducted an in-depth analysis of how the national top strategy and the Institute’s specific work were carried out. In addition, he introduced the further work concept in detail and proposed to further integrate the forces of various disciplines on the basis of the current 12 research centers of the Institute, consolidating the four key research directions, and focus on the key breakthroughs of various resources of the institute. The deans and vice presidents of other colleges discussed the top-level design, research priorities, development goals, management systems, and safeguard mechanisms of the institute.
It is reported that the Beautiful China Institute of Human Habitat and Ecological Environment of Beijing Forestry University has gradually completed the establishment of regulations, establishment of institutions, and recruitment of members since established January 2018 .In the process of recruiting members, a total of 146 teachers from 6 colleges applied for admission to the institute. The cumulative number of applications was 223, of which 34 were applied as the director of the center.
