Distinctive Features
The Urban and Rural Planning program was established in 1999 and is a national-level "First-Class Undergraduate Program" construction site. In 2011, Urban and Rural Planning became an independent first-level discipline, fully leveraging the strengths of Beijing Forestry University's Landscape Architecture discipline. The program emphasizes green principles and ecological features, focusing on comprehensive abilities in territorial spatial planning, urban and rural ecological environment creation, urban green space development, urban design, and community renewal. It also emphasizes the cultivation of aesthetic quality and the integration of theory with practical planning and design capabilities, aiming to cultivate top professionals for the nation.
Educational Objectives
The program aims to cultivate high-end, innovative talents with an ecological and innovative mindset, equipped with basic knowledge in urban planning and design, planning management, architecture, urban geography, urban economics, urban sociology, ecology, landscape architecture art and engineering. Graduates should be capable of applying their theoretical and practical knowledge to areas such as territorial spatial regional planning, master planning, detailed planning, urban design, landscape and heritage conservation planning, tourism planning, landscape design, as well as conducting research on urban development strategies, urban renewal and development planning, and urban planning management.
